Digital archiving, digitisation, and media care.

I work with individuals, artists, studios, and organisations to bring order and longevity to collections of photographs, film, audio, and paper - building archival systems that are clear, durable, and easy to live with, and digitising material where it's needed to keep it accessible and safe.

Every project starts with the material itself: what it is, what condition it's in, how it's used now, and how it needs to be found and used in future. From there I put together a system - physical, digital, or both - that holds up over time and doesn't depend on any one piece of software, or on me.

Work can be carried out remotely or in person, depending on what suits the project. Confidentiality is maintained throughout, particularly with personal, family, or unpublished material.

Services:

Photo organising:
Bringing together photos from multiple devices into one coherent system for easier access and enjoyment.

Digital archiving:
Cataloguing, documentation, and organisation of photographs, film, audio, and paper collections — designed around how the material will actually be used and by whom.

Photograph digitisation:
Negatives, prints, slides, and albums, scanned and organised. Optional extras: image restoration or retouching, production of photobooks.

Video and audio digitisation:
VHS, MiniDV, cassette, and reel-to-reel, transferred and preserved.
Optional extras: audio clean-up, production of video montages.

Collection and studio archives:
Ongoing archival support for artists, studios, and small collections — bringing structure to a body of work over time, not just a one-off clear-out.

About me:

Hello, I am Beatrice a.k.a. Dust Bunny, and I have been working in art & design university libraries and archives since 2018. I have training in best-practice collections management and have been collecting old media formats for years.

Approach:

I treat every collection on its own terms. Some projects are about preservation - getting fragile or obsolete material into a stable, accessible format before it's lost. Others are about making an existing archive usable - building a system an individual, studio or organisation can actually keep up with, long after the initial project ends. Often it's both.

Your originals are handled to archival standards throughout, and I work closely with each client to understand what "organised" should actually mean for their material and their practice.
